Closing Deal on Friday? Huh!

" Closing Deal on Friday... huh, are you crazy? "

" Understand the Market first man, no way! Who will meet you in Weekend? "
Comments received from my colleagues in London, while I was moving out of office on Friday, on sales calls planned for closure.
As usual, I prepared deal promotion copies on CCTV/e-Commerce & jumped into market for hunt. Amazingly, I pulled out 7 deals worth over GBP10K that day alone!
Myth: Customer won't meet for closures on Friday or in Weekend.
Reality: London is amazing place for business. Customers meet 24*7*365 days if we make 'real' sense to them. In fact, I closed Deals on Christmas day too!!
My learning in London
  • Plan your day with aggressive daily deals
  • Deal has to be really compelling, with sensible price discounts. Can be combo or group deal
  • 'Me too - deal' doesn't work out. Differentiation is key for better mind share and recall
  • Work out best deal with smart focus on market gaps
  • Objection handling has to be very logical & systematic
  • Strong references need to pitched in for quick closure
  • Neighborhood connects score more, accelerates deal closing
  • Don't give up, keep going - Persistence always pays off
  • Ignore excuses, keep negativity out.
  • Feed your mind with motivation speeches, stories, videos every day as part of preparation
  • Be honest, sincere with Customers for their snow-ball reference
  • Sales is very passionate, go-getter job, everything is possible; be fully fired up to create wonders! Good luck friends!!!

'Cold Calling' works in London too!

My post covers my cold calling sales experience in London, UK. It is always interesting to watch ongoing debate on 'Cold Calling' & its relevance in digital era now. 'Cold Calling' - is one of the traditional & widely accepted approaches for 'go to market' (GTM) & carries mixed opinions on execution front. Key steps in the process include: meeting unknown potential Customer directly without any prior reference or appointment, sharing value proposition across the table and push for deal closure. My experience says, ' Cold Calling works well in London (UK) too '. Landed in London with HSMP visa on hand, being new to market, I have used the same process & tips which I picked up & practiced in India during my early days of Professional Sales Career. Interestingly, the core fundamentals won't change even after a decade, irrespective of your work place. However, smart fine-tuning is essential based on product/solution or ...
